What changes the price of a house cleaning

Four things set the price of a clean: the number of bedrooms, the number of bathrooms, the size of the home and the type of clean. Here's exactly how much each one adds at Good Maid:

Added on top of the starting price for a 1 bed, 1 bath home under 1,000 sq ft.
Each extra…StandardDeepMove In/Out

Bathroom+$31+$50+$60
Size step (e.g. 1,000–1,499 → 1,500–1,999 sq ft)+$21+$33+$39

Bathrooms cost more than bedrooms

Bathrooms are the most detailed rooms in a home to clean: toilets, showers, tubs, glass and grout all need scrubbing and disinfecting. That's why an extra bathroom adds more than an extra bedroom.

The type of clean matters most

A deep clean costs about 50% more than a standard clean for the same home, because it adds the inside of the oven, fridge, cabinets and drawers, plus baseboards and door frames. A move in/out clean goes further again, with every appliance, window tracks, closets and storage.

Flat-rate vs. hourly cleaning prices

Cleaning companies in Metro Vancouver generally price one of two ways:

  • Hourly: you pay for the time the cleaner spends. The quote is an estimate, and the final bill depends on how long the job actually takes.
  • Flat rate by home size: you pay a fixed price based on the home and the service. You know the total before you book.

We use flat, instant pricing. You see the full price before you enter any personal details, and it doesn't go up if the clean takes longer than expected. If you're comparing quotes, compare the total for the same type of clean — not the hourly rate — and check what's included, whether supplies are extra, and whether tax is added on top.

How much recurring cleaning costs

Regular cleaning is cheaper per visit. A recurring plan is a standard clean on a schedule, with a discount for each visit:

1 bed, 1 bath condo (under 1,000 sq ft)$146$155$164

4 bed, 3 bath house (2,500–3,499 sq ft)$313$332$352

Biweekly is a good fit for most Vancouver condos and family homes. Our guide on how often to get your house cleaned helps you pick.

Five ways to pay less for house cleaning

  1. Go recurring. Weekly visits are 20% off, biweekly 15% and monthly 10%.
  2. Deep clean once, then switch to standard. After a deep clean resets the home, regular standard visits keep it there for less.
  3. Book the right service. If your home is in normal, lived-in shape, a standard clean is all you need.
  4. Use your first-clean discount. New customers can use code FIRST20 for $20 off.
  5. Prep before your cleaner arrives. Clearing counters and floors means your cleaner spends the visit cleaning, not tidying. See how to prepare for a house cleaner.
